Expected practice

Editors should check the question, source quality, method coverage, citations, alternative explanations, and wording of conclusions. A vendor statement should retain its vendor attribution, and a hypothesis should not become a factual finding through copyediting.

Responsibility and boundaries

Material revisions require an identifiable new version or correction. Review independence, conflicts of interest, and unavailable evidence should be disclosed. Listing a tool, source, or course does not constitute endorsement.

Application and current status

Journal review uses assigned human reviewers, decisions bound to the submitted version, and an explicit authorized release. Reviewer assignments and completed review activity have separate records. Reference feedback uses the correction channel, and the submission guide explains the material required for a manuscript.
